ICC ODI rankings: Jasprit Bumrah loses No.1 spot, Virat Kohli stays on top despite horror run in New Zealand

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has lost his top spot in the latest ICC ODI Bowling Rankings updated after New Zealand whitewashed India 3-0 in a recently-concluded 3-match series.

Jasprit Bumrah dropped 45 rating points to slip to the No. 2 spot after a horror run in the 3-match ODI series against New Zealand. Bumrah is now behind Trent Boult, who has climbed to the top spot despite not playing the ODI series against India with a hand injury.

India struggled to pick up wickets with the new ball against New Zealand as their lead pacer went wicketless in a bilateral series for the 1st time in his career.

Bumrah finished with 0 for 50 in 10 overs in the 3rd ODI on Tuesday while in the first two matches he had figures of 0 for 64 and 0 for 53 respectively. Overall, he bowled 30 overs for 167 runs with 1 maiden to his name.

Virat Kohli retains top spot despite dropping points

On the other hand, Virat Kohli consolidated his spot at the top of ICC ODI Batting Rankings. He is the No. 1 batsman in ODIs with 869 points.

Rohit Sharma, who missed the ODI series with a calf injury, is at the 2nd spot with 855 points.

The gap between India’s premier batsmen is getting smaller with Virat Kohli struggling to convert starts into big knocks in the recent past.

Notably, Kohli finished with 75 runs from 3 ODIs as he failed to step up in the absence of Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan in the 3-match ODI series in New Zealand.

Pakistan batsman Babar Azam is 3rd on the list with 829 points while Ross Taylor is fourth with 828 points.

Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal rewarded for fine performances

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has climbed 3 spots to be ranked No. 7 in the all-rounder’s rankings. Notably, Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has overtaken World Cup hero Ben Stokes to the top of the all-rounder’s charts.

Meanwhile, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has moved 3 places to the 13th spot after some fine performances in the ODIs against New Zealand. He finished on top of the wicket-taker’s list with 6 scalps despite playing only the last 2 matches.
